At Cummins Darlington, staff members were provided with a valuable opportunity to enhance their professional presence by updating their business profiles through dedicated photography sessions focused on head and shoulders portraits. This initiative not only aimed to refresh their images but also to foster a sense of professionalism and unity within the workplace. By encouraging employees to participate in this activity, the company demonstrated its commitment to personal branding and the importance of presenting a polished image in today’s competitive business environment.

To facilitate this process, I chose to set up the photography session in the canteen area, utilising the natural light available in the space. The decision to use available light, complemented by a reflector, was strategic; it allowed for a soft, flattering illumination that is often preferred in portrait photography. The canteen, devoid of clutter and distractions, served as an ideal backdrop, ensuring that the focus remained solely on the subjects. Thankfully, the timing of the shoot coincided perfectly with a period when the canteen was not bustling with activity, as it was not yet lunchtime. This allowed for a calm atmosphere where staff could feel at ease while being photographed, leading to more relaxed and authentic expressions. By carefully considering both the lighting and the setting, I aimed to capture the professionalism and individuality of each staff member, contributing to a cohesive and engaging representation of the Cummins Darlington team.
