Paddy Cronesberry, Olympic torch carrier in Stockton-on-Tees and a dedicated and passionate individual at the age of 60, hails from the vibrant town of Thornaby. He has earned the esteemed position of chairman of the Middlesbrough Disabled Supporters’ Association (MDSA), a role that reflects his unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and needs of disabled sports fans in the region. Under his leadership, the MDSA has flourished, becoming a vital support network that not only champions inclusivity within the local sports community but also fosters a sense of belonging among its members. Paddy's tireless efforts over the years, which have included organising events, facilitating access to games, and ensuring that the voices of disabled supporters are heard, have not gone unnoticed. In recognition of his significant contributions and the positive impact he has made, he was nominated to be a torchbearer, a prestigious honour that symbolises his dedication and hard work. This nomination serves as a testament to his relentless pursuit of equality and accessibility in sports, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps and advocate for change.
